![]() ![]() ![]() What is worrisome is if sellers in the US try to pass off Chinese Martin copies for genuine Martins (on eBay and Craigslist). The different in the cost of a genuine Martin (from Nazareth, PA) and a Chinese Martin copy must be:Ģ) value of the Martin company brand name ![]() I have read that because many US guitar companies (as well as banjo companies like Recording King) have been building instruments in China for years, that there are many skilled instrument builders in China that produce high quality instruments, with factories and techniques that produce high quality instruments.īut, since Chinese Martin's supposedly contain the same (or similar) wood parts, is it mainly the labor (and experience) that adds thousands of dollars to the price of a genuine Martin versus a Chinese-made Martin copy? I own two genuine Martins: a D-42 and an HD-0 Opry Martin, and love both guitars. I believe in fully supporting genuine instrument builders (whether they build guitars or banjos). First of all, I want to be clear that I do NOT advocate buying Chinese-made Martins, and am not planning on doing so. ![]()
